Barn House in Braithwaite is a superb self catering property in the heart of this lovely Lakeland village – combining a traditional Lakeland cottage with modern comforts to provide an ideal home from home. The barn conversion was built to the highest standard and this is reflected throughout the property. Barn House has been successfully utilised as a self catering cottage for several years and comes highly recommended by previous visitors.
The outside space at Barn House consists of a small yard with a convenient bench, table and chairs for you to sit, relax and perhaps enjoy a coffee or a well earned wine or beer.
There is private parking for one car with ample on-street parking very nearby.
The lounge at Barn House is a lovely large area with plenty of seating for everyone. If it’s chilly out, then there is an open log fire, together with an initial starter supply of logs, complete with Lakeland stone surround. The original oak beams have been preserved from the barn as well as a large arch window that was once a barn doorway. There are games for all ages, books, local maps and some DVDs for you to use. The TV has freeview and there is a DVD player. There is also an iPod docking station. Patio doors open onto the outdoor seating area.
The well appointed kitchen is large and has a beautiful Lakeland slate tiled floor. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, and a fridge with separate freezer as well as all the usual kitchen appliances and tools. A circular dining table provides the setting for family meals.
For those partial to a little news or music whilst in the kitchen there is a TV and CD system.
The Master Bedroom
The Master is the largest of all the rooms and, if required, could easily take an additional z bed or travel cot. There is a TV as well as a radio alarm clock.
From the window there are lovely views from the Skiddaw mountain range over towards Blencathra further east.
The Second Bedroom is a tastefully decorated and furnished double bedroom that features an original brick archway from the former barn. Situated towards the back of the house the room has atmospheric lighting from the Velux window though, sadly, not much in the way of views.
The Twin Bedroom
A smaller room than the other two, located at the front of the house. There is plenty of room for the two single beds, wardrobe and bedside tables the room contains.
The window offers views over the Coledale Horseshoe.
To complete the accommodation there is a spacious family bathroom with separate power shower and bath, heated towel rail, wash basin and wc.

There is a village store offering a good range of produce as well as fresh baked bread and sandwiches to take away. There is also a camp shop at the nearby campsite. Despite its size, Braithwaite has 4 inns and restaurants in the village, all within an easy 2-5 minute walk from Barn House.
Because of its central location, the cottage is an excellent base for walkers and sightseers alike with the famous Coledale Horseshoe and Catbells walks starting straight from the doorstep.
